Our biggest fear: bullying

BIANCA SALINAS: One of our biggest fears was being bullied in public school. As we did the tour, everybody, all his peers, including general ed, welcomed Gabe with open arms. Throughout the years that he has been in public education, his peers have grown to love him. They send him text messages. They eat with him at lunch. You start them early. And I always say early intervention is the best intervention. And the reason I say that is because these kids grow up with them and they follow them from elementary to middle school to high school, and then they become long friends after that. And that's what you want. You want inclusion. You want them to socialize. You want them to know how it feels to have somebody on your side.

In this video, Bianca Salinas talks about the importance of inclusion. This video aligns with the Rubric of Effective Practices from TX CAN Indicator IV: Differentiated Instruction - Component 7.
