Recasting

This video shows one educator sharing how she uses the strategy of recasting to model articulation, grammar, and vocabulary.

Recasting is repeating what a student says with an expansion as a means of giving implicit and direct feedback.  It promotes using complete and grammatically correct sentences. As the student learns to speak in full sentences, reading sentences can be done more fluently.

Recasting enables educators to encourage speech development without interfering with the natural flow of a conversation.
