Guidance for the Comprehensive Evaluation of Specific Learning Disabilities
This resource is currently being updated to align with revision to new rule and statute adopted in the 24-25 school year. Thank you for your patience. Please review the most recent rule changes at the TEA Proposed Commissioner of Education Rules or the TEA Back to School Updates for Special Educators, Administrators, and Other Professionals for more information.
This guidance document serves as a resource for local education agencies (LEAs) and Multidisciplinary Teams (MDTs) as they work collaboratively to evaluate students suspected of having a Specific Learning Disability (SLD), including dyslexia and dysgraphia. An overview of relevant regulations, educational disability condition elements, best practices, and special considerations related to the identification of an SLD is provided. This resource is best used in conjunction with the TEA Technical Assistance Guide: Child Find & Evaluation.
